Nigel Farage gives up alcohol ahead of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! stint
Nigel Farage has ditched alcohol ahead of his appearance on 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!'.
The 59-year-old politician was often seen boozing during his campaigning days but has embarked on a health kick as he ventures into the Australian jungle for the popular ITV reality show.
Nigel has ditched ale for orange juice and has also given up tea and coffee as he makes preparations for a diet of rice and beans in the jungle.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "Nigel is already preparing himself for what life could be like in camp.
"He hasn’t touched a drop of booze for days and he isn’t substituting pints with coffee after completely cutting out caffeine.
"It is no secret that Nigel loves a pint, but he is sticking to orange juice and ginger beer for the foreseeable.
"Nigel hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet but, if and when he does, it will help his life in camp.
"This is the first time Nigel has been pictured in a pub without a pint. Something must be up."
The former UKIP leader recently explained that he was giving "very, very serious consideration" to ITV's offer as wants to "connect" with some of the 10 million youngsters who watch the show.
Speaking on his GB News show, Farage said: "Several times since 2016 I've had 'I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!' from ITV saying to me, 'Come into the jungle.'
"And they've always offered me really quite substantial sums of money to do so, and I have always thought 'No, it's probably not the right thing for me to do.' "
He added: "Well, you've got about 10 million young people who watch that programme.
"These are people who don't really watch the news or read newspapers, but they still care about the country they live in and their futures.
"And actually, in many ways, the futures of young people in Britain had been blighted.
"They haven't got the same opportunities that their parents and grandparents had and they'd love to look for solutions.
"So in my mind, if I was to do it, I might be able to connect with that audience because goodness me they all watch 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' "
