Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight 2 ending spoilers follow.

One of Netflix's most entertaining horror offerings of last year was slasher throwback Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight, which set itself up for a sequel with a credits teaser.

We weren't particularly sure that it'd arrive, but clearly the movie was a big enough hit last Halloween for Netflix for a sequel to be greenlit. So just in time for this Halloween, Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight 2 has slashed its way onto the streaming service.

The sequel brings back the original movie's 'final girl' Zosia (Julia Wieniawa-Narkiewicz) who has been arrested by the police. Unfortunately for her, the police have also arrested the killer mutant twins who she thought she had killed in the first movie.

We're about to delve into the bloody events of the horror sequel, including its ending, so look away now if you haven't seen the movie yet as spoilers are ahead.

Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight 2 ending explained

Shortly after Zosia is brought back to the cabin where the murders took place, she's infected by the same meteorite as the twins. She mutates, kills Sergeant Waldek and starts to head back to where it all began: Camp Adrenalina.

Rookie cop Adas heads to the cabin with colleague Wanessa and despite his pleas for them to wait for the special forces to arrive, Wanessa calls in the "territorial defence" which turns out to be two brothers, Mariusz and Slawek. They track Zosia to the camp and set up a trap for him, only for Slawek to cut his own hands off in a bear trap and die.

Using Janeczka (who was hiding at the camp) for bait, Adas, Wanessa and Mariusz attempt to lure and kill Zosia, but it only ends up with Mariusz and Janeczka being killed. Wanessa pushes Adas into Zosia and escapes in an ambulance back to the station, but Zosia doesn't kill Adas.

Instead, she infects him as well and he mutates, which is where Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight 2 really changes gears.

The final third turns into more of a mutant love story as Zosia teaches Adas the ways of their race, allowing the movie to hilariously skewer genre tropes. "Now we are the bad guys. We are monsters. We kill people," she tells him, only for Adas to reply: "That's not really a complex motivation."

Zosia insists it's just their nature and that "evil is a subjective notion", adding that people are evil and should have been "annihilated ages ago". Adas doesn't believe that everybody is evil, but does tell Zosia that if they can choose who to kill, he's got just the person.

They head to the house of shopkeeper Janusz, who Adas saw kick a dog earlier in the movie. He doesn't just straight-up kill him though as, in another meta gag, he toys with him first outside his house.

"It's cool we are the bad guys now, and that we do what we do. And that we can build up some suspense first. Scare them a bit. I even thought about roaring in some spooky way, but somehow I didn't manage to," he explains.

They hide in Janusz's closet – "What if he doesn't check?" / "He will, they always do" – but he doesn't actually check in, so Adas goes out and kills him anyway by stabbing him through the eye. Zosia is happy with his progress and the two have full-on mutant sex, before she tells him they need to free the twins from the station.

Wanessa is waiting for them at the station, but Adas overpowers her. He can't kill her though, much to the dismay of Zosia who walks up and rips Wanessa's face off, before stomping her into bits for good measure.

Adas professes his love for Zosia, but she feels betrayed and believes Adas loved Wanessa and not her. She storms out of the station and is splattered by the special forces van that has finally arrived, before they arrest Adas. In the station, the twins pick up a grenade thrown earlier by Wanessa which goes off, blowing up the entire station.

As with the first movie though, Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight 2 doesn't end when the credits start as there's an extra scene. We see scientists studying Adas, but we're not hopeful for them as when they inject him, he finally lets out his monster roar.

See you again next Halloween for the threequel?
