Of Course Hollywood Is Making Tinder: The Movie

If you thought movies based on emojis and Tetris were a sign of the cinematic end-times, Hollywood is now at work on a movie based on popular dating app Tinder.

You could say the movie industry just swiped left on originality. You could say that, but it’d be an awful joke.

Called ‘Worst Tinder Date Ever’, the film is being written by 'Friends With Benefits’ pair Keith Merryman and David Newman (via The Independent). Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan will produce. Their credits include ‘Catwoman’ and ‘The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants’.

As you can probably guess, the film follows a pair of young adults who meet through Tinder, go on a terrible date but presumably end up together by the end.

For those of you over the age of 40 or in loving relationships - Tinder is a dating app that soared in popularity a couple of years ago. It presents users with a stream of potential dates in their area, who they can swipe right on if they like what they see on their profile. If two users swipe right on each other, they’re matched and can then start to chat.

It’ll probably end up being better than the Emoji movie at least, but we can’t help thinking a Tinder movie has more potential as a horror movie than a rom-com.
