Olivia Newton-John Is Trying To Block New Biopic Movie

Olivia Newton-John is said to be doing ‘everything in her power’ to stop a biopic of her life story being made.

The 67-year-old star of 'Grease’ is also reportedly no longer on speaking terms with Australian singer and actress Delta Goodrem, who is set to play her in the project.

According to Australian magazine New Idea, Newton-John has issued a cease and desist letter to the movie’s producers.

Meanwhile, casting is already confirmed to be 'well-advanced’.

A source told the magazine: “(Olivia’s) very upset and is not taking (Delta’s) calls.

“She expects Delta to publicly disassociate herself from the movie before she’ll talk to her again.”

The pair had previously been very close, former 'Neighbours’ star Goodrem often citing her as a strong inspiration in her career.

She said in an interview back in 2008: “Olivia’s been an incredible guiding light with me.

“She’s always given me really great advice… She’s beautiful and we have a beautiful friendship.”

The film follows the success of last year’s controversial two-part INXS biopic, 'Never Tear Us Apart: The Untold Story of INXS’, which starred Luke Arnold as Michael Hutchence.

Australia’s Channel Seven has also recently green-lit a miniseries biopic project on 'Crocodile Dundee’ star Paul Hogan.

The broadcaster’s head of drama Julie McGauran said: “The Paul Hogan project will be a celebration of a beloved icon; an Aussie battler with a larrikin heart who experienced an unexpected, unprecedented rise to international stardom.”
