Former couple Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde have publicly paid tribute to each other following Sudeikis' Critics Choice award win.

Sudeikis and Wilde dated for nine years before separating last year. The couple share two children together and judging by their recent public nods to each other have kept their relationship very cordial and friendly, which is always lovely to see.

On Sunday evening, Sudeikis won two awards at the 2021 Critics Choice awards - which, in spirit with this year's awards season, were conducted virtually - for Best Actor In A Comedy Series and Best Comedy series for his Apple TV show Ted Lasso.

Wearing a hoodie, for the second time this awards season, and flat cap, Sudeikis reeled off his thank yous during his speech, paying tribute to his children Otis and Daisy before extending his gratitude to their mother and his former partner.

'I want to thank their mum, Olivia, who had the initial idea to this as a TV show... and was saying "hey you, Brendan and Joe like doing this so much you should do it as a TV show." I was like, "nah." She was right!' he said.

Following the show, Wilde took to Twitter to congratulate her former partner and his team, while also jokingly referencing his penchant for hoodies:

'So happy for you guys. I hope this means we all keep wearing hoodies when the ceremonies are in person next year,' the actor and director tweeted.

Sudeikis and Wilde began dating in 2011 after meeting on Saturday Night Live where the Ted Lasso actor was a member of the cast. After welcoming their children in 2014 and 2016, news of the couple separating surfaced at the end of 2020, with reports suggesting they ended their relationship at the start of the year.

In January, rumours surfaced that Wilde was dating Harry Styles, after working together on Wilde's directorial follow up to Booksmart, the upcoming movie Don't Worry Darling, which will also star Florence Pugh opposite the former One Directioner.

In November, a source told People that Sudeikis and Wilde's split has 'been amicable and they’ve transitioned into a great co-parenting routine. The children are the priority and the heart of the family’s relationship'.

Judging from these mutual public declarations of appreciation, that's very much the case and we love to see it.
