Olly Murs has admitted that he is “very annoying” after a year of playing controversial pranks on his girlfriend which sparked complaints from domestic abuse campaigners.

The pop star spent lockdown tricking girlfriend Amelia Tank in a series of uncomfortable TikTok videos, but has now acknowledged it might not have been much fun for her.

He told The Sun On Sunday: "It was a lot of fun coming up with pranks and fun stuff with my girlfriend, so I’m glad people enjoyed them.

“I’ve learned I’m very annoying to live with this year, especially feeling semi-retired over lockdown.

“I was definitely bored and pestering Amelia to do TikTok videos with me when she has a full-time job. There should be an award for her to be honest.”

Tank, a personal trainer, featured in videos that saw Murs push her face-first into a swimming pool, blast an air horn at her, and make her unsuspectingly touch his penis, which he had hidden in a hollowed-out Pringles tube.

Although some of his fans found the videos funny, the TikTok posts also worried domestic abuse campaigners who questioned whether she had been made to take part in a sexual act without giving consent.

Tank has filmed some of her own pranks on Murs for Tik Tok, although they tend to be a little tamer – showing, for instance, her sellotaping his phone to his head.

Murs also likes to film prank videos with his Essex pal Mark Wright and they recently showed fans a clip of themselves acting out a coronavirus-themed joke on Wright’s doorstep.

As they pretended to be meeting up at Wright’s house for a Christmas drink, the former TOWIE star told singer Murs he couldn’t come in as he’d prioritised seeing other people in his Christmas bubble.
