Orange Wednesdays To End In 2015
Sad news folks: Orange Wednesdays, the “two cinema tickets for the price of one” offer from mobile network EE, is coming to an end in 2015.
A spokesperson told Business Insider: “After 10 great years our brand has changed and our customers’ viewing habits have also evolved so it’s time to move on. That’s why the final credits will roll for Orange Wednesdays at the end of February 2015.”
The news has been met with dismay by UK cinemagoers who flock to cinemas every Wednesday to make use of the much-loved offer.
EE, the network formed by the merger between Orange and T-Mobile, says it plans to provide “new customer entertainment rewards” when the offer ends, but it seems unlikely that it will be another cinema ticket offer.
However, it’s not all bad news for cinemagoers, as we’re hearing on the grapevine that another corporate sponsor is waiting on the sidelines to take over the offer.
The promotion, which began in 2003, has been a huge hit during its lifespan but one thing we won’t miss is those godawful adverts that played in front of EVERY SINGLE FILM.
RIP Orange Wednesday 2003-2015.
