Paddington 3 is on the lookout for a new director after Paul King has decided to step away from the project.

King was at the helm for the first two instalments about the marmalade-loving bear, but he has decided to pass the baton on to someone else for the third film.

He told Empire Magazine that the two Paddington films had been "one of the great treats of my life", but he knew it was time for him to move on, though he will be staying on to executive produce the third movie.

"At some point, you just have to stop. It might be time for somebody else to do a twist on it.

"I'm trying not to do a third bear movie, which is a huge, huge mistake," he said.

King also revealed that the script for Paddington 3 has already been written and he expects even more adventures from the little bear in the future beyond this film.

"It's not like Paddington dies at the end. He doesn't ascend into the sky on a rocket-powered marmalade jar," he added.

It might be a while before the film hits cinemas, but if you can't wait to see more of London's most famous bear, The Adventures of Paddington TV show is available to watch on Nick Jr.

The series stars Ben Whishaw as Paddington Bear, who reprises his role from the films, and BAFTA winner Darren Boyd as Mr Brown.
