Pamela Anderson has announced that she's quitting social media.

The former Baywatch star and model announced on Instagram on Tuesday (26 January) that “this will be my last post on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook.”

“I've never been interested in social media,” she continued. “And now that I'm settled into the life I'm genuinely inspired by, reading and being in nature, I am free.”

Anderson also urged her followers to “find the strength and inspiration to follow your purpose” and “not to be seduced by wasted time”.

“That's what THEY want and can use to make money,” she continued, concluding that social media companies have “control over your brain”.

Anderson posted a similar sentiment to Twitter, writing simply, “Goodbye social media.”

Anderson has also made the news in recent months for asking former President Donald Trump to Anderson grant a full pardon to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange prior to leaving office.

Speaking to reporters in May 2019 after visiting Assange in a London prison, Ms Anderson said it was “very difficult” to see the Wikileaks founder in that setting.

“He does not deserve to be in a supermax prison. He has never committed a violent act. He is an innocent person,” she said.

Later, in May 2020, Anderson announced a new role as creative director of a new social platform at, which allows users to communicate directly with influencers and experts about topics like travel, fashion, dating, and relationships.

“I love the concept, I love the idea of trying to connect people,” Anderson told Good Morning America at the time. “I feel like it’s one of those things where users and influencers can talk about anything and it’s direct communication looking into somebody’s eyes – I kind of take social media to another level.”
