Paramount Scrap US Cinema Release Of The Little Prince

No doubt anyone out there who loves animation has been looking forward to ‘The Little Prince’ for some time, but Paramount have decided to can it right before release.

Its director, Mark Osborne, took to his personal Twitter to announce the frustrating news that his stop motion and computer generated feature was not coming out this month in the US as originally planned, and that fans would unfortunately have to wait a little longer before seeing it.

The anticipated film, based on classic 1943 book by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, débuted at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, and has already made around $80 million in overseas revenue.

It’s also been the recipient of France’s Cesar Award for Best Animated Film. The story is set around the life of a small girl who’s overbearing mother is trying to snap her otu of childhood and into the adult world. But her friendly neighbour, the Aviator, introduces her to a wonderful world where anything is possible - a world inhabited by the Little Prince.

While fans might be sweating on what this means for the UK release, it’ll likely still get a limited cinema run, even though there’s no confirmed date for when Brits can in fact see it yet.

It stars a number of high profile actors lending their voices to the cast, including Jeff Bridges, Rachel McAdams, Paul Rudd, Marion Cotillard, James Franco, and Benicio Del Toro.
