Paramount Sued Because Transformers: Age Of Extinction Didn’t Have Enough Product Placement

Each instalment from the ‘Transformers’ franchise has been packed to the brim with product placement, as Paramount look to earn millions back from companies eager to profit from the series’ success.

But it turns out that ‘Transformers: Age Of Extinction’ didn’t include quite enough product placement, because Paramount are now being sued for failing to include a logo for the Wulong Karst National Park.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Bay and his ‘Transformers’ cohorts shot some scenes for ‘Age Of Extinction’ in Wulong Karst National Park after the studio reached an agreement with the Wulong Karst Tourism company.

But Paramount and the China Movie Channel have confirmed that they weren’t able to include the desired logo. In an attempt to calm Wulong Karst Tourism they have offered an advertisement for the resort, while the film also left props so that tourists will be encouraged to visit, too.

However, Wulong Karst Tourism clearly aren’t happy with the deal, because they’ve now filed a lawsuit against Paramount for $27.7 million having originally paid the studio $750,000 for the product placement.

This lawsuit is now being looked over and examined in a Chongqing City court, having originally been filed in 2014.
