Actor Jim Caviezel says that Mel Gibson is still working on a sequel to his biblical 2004 hit The Passion of the Christ.
Talking to Brietbart News about his new film Infidel, Caviezel said that Gibson had recently sent him the latest script for the film, and he thinks it will surpass the original.
“Mel Gibson just sent me the third picture, the third draft,” the 51-year-old actor said. “It’s coming. It’s called The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection. It’s going to be the biggest film in world history.”

Gibson’s film, which primarily focusses on the final 12 hours before the death of Jesus and is performed entirely in Hebrew, Latin and reconstructed Aramaic, was a huge hit grossing over $600m from a budget of $30m.
A sequel has been in development since at least 2016, with co-screenwriter Randall Wallace confirming it will focus on the resurrection of Christ.
Earlier in 2020, Caviezel told Fox News that the project was on a fifth draft, adding "It's going to be a masterpiece. It's gonna be the biggest film in world history, I believe it will be based on what I feel in my heart.
"It's so imperative in this time. These films can't be made now. The films they make are Marvel Comics movies. You'll see Superman. You won't see Jesus... I got to play the greatest superhero there ever was."
News of a sequel to Passion of the Christ prompted a reaction online, mainly from people suggesting alternative titles for the film including ‘Passion of the Christ 2: Too Christ, Too Furious’.
The Passion of the Christ is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
