There is a fifth movie in the Insidious franchise on the way, with star Patrick Wilson set to make the move into the director’s chair, as well as returning in front of the camera.
Wilson first appeared as Josh Lambert in the terrifying original movie in 2010 and played the character again in the 2013 sequel.
Lin Shaye’s character took centre stage for the third and fourth Insidious films, but Deadline reports that Wilson is returning to the spotlight for the new movie — which will mark his debut effort as director.
Ty Simpkins will also reprise his role as the son of Wilson’s character, but this time he’s starting college when the haunting begins.

Wilson described his move to the director’s chair on Insidious as a “full circle moment” in his career on the big screen.
He added: “I’m honoured and thrilled to be at the helm of the next Insidious instalment, which will provide an amazing chance to unpack everything the Lamberts went through a decade ago, as well as deal with the consequences of their choices.”
The Insidious franchise has pulled in a mammoth $542m (£419m) at the global box office over the course of the four movies.
Horror maestro James Wan created the first film alongside regular buddy Leigh Whannell, with whom he also crafted the Saw franchise.
Insidious proved to be the first of many collaborations between Wan and Wilson, with the two subsequently joining forces for The Conjuring and Aquaman.
The Insidious franchise focuses on the idea of astral projection, with certain people able to connect with The Further — a realm inhabited by a variety of unruly and restless spirits.
Along with the Paranormal Activity movies, the Insidious series proved to be an early success for Blumhouse as it found its footing in the world of multiplex horror.

Studio boss Jason Blum said: “One of the primary reasons the interest and appetite from fans has lasted for Insidious is because the people involved in the first film have stayed involved and kept it vital, interesting and good.”
No timeline has been provided for the release of Insidious 5 at the time of writing.
