Patrick Wilson has revealed that filming on the fifth Insidious movie wrapped last week, meaning the horror flick is moving into post production and should be scaring us silly in the cinemas before too long.
The actor isn't just returning as Josh Lambert for the film, titled Insidious: Fear the Dark, but he's also making his directorial debut with it.
Sharing a photo of a floating lightbulb, with the film's subtitle written on the wall in an ominous red, to his Instagram, Wilson wrote: "…lights out on our next instalment of the Insidious franchise. Second leg of the journey is done. Now on to post.
"To my entire cast/crew…THANK YOU…for the drive, the passion, and the hours. And a big thanks to all the partners/spouses/families/friends who dealt with our wacky schedule. Can’t wait to show you all what we’re cooking up. Into the Further we go!"
He also wrote a comment saying: "I may or may not have painted that [title] on my office wall."
Although this will be the fifth film in the Insidious franchise in terms of both release order and chronology, it will focus on the characters from the first two movies. We're sure that there will be nods to the third and fourth entries here and there.
Teasing what the film will focus on, Wilson previously said: "Watching Dalton go to college and what does that do? Watching a young man go to college and all the new experiences and feeling like an outsider trying to fit in. He's got this ability that he doesn't even know that he has of being an astral projector and traveller.
"After so long, are we still hypnotised? Is there still that trance? What does that do to your life? What does that do to your marriage? And then what does that do for a father and son relationship?"
Insidious 5 is released in cinemas on July 7, 2023.
