Paul Rudd’s Son Wasn’t Impressed With His Ant-Man Casting

When Paul Rudd was cast as Scott Lang/Ant-Man in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe you can imagine that the actor was feeling rather proud of himself.

The ‘This Is 40’ star probably leapt at the opportunity to tell his family and friends about this career progression. However Rudd has now revealed that not all of his family was that impressed by his announcement.

In fact his 9-year-old son Jack was far from overjoyed about his dad’s casting. Paul Rudd made this admission to Entertainment Tonight, and he explained just how his son responded to the revelation.

“When I told my own son that I was going to be in a superhero movie, he asked what it as,” Rudd stated. “I said, ‘Well I’ll be playing ‘Ant-Man’.’ He said, ‘What?’ He was not impressed. What he actually said was, ‘Wow. I can’t wait to see how stupid that‘ll be.”

It seem like everyone’s a critic. The early reviews for ‘Ant-Man’ have been, for the most part, supportive.

Yes, some have insisted that Peyton Reed and Adam MacKay’s film is a little uneven, but a lot of critics have noted that it’s still preposterously entertaining, while Rudd has also received praise for how he leads the way.

‘Ant-Man’ is just the beginning for Paul Rudd. Because he’s going to reprise the character in ‘Captain America: Civil War’, while there’s every chance that his services will be needed further down the line in the Marvel Cinematic Universe too.

We’ll finally see if ‘Ant-Man’ is a worthy addition to Marvel’s oeuvre when it hits UK cinemas on Friday July 17th.
