As Eva and the local community are forced to decide between rescuing the shipwrecked or surviving the winter with what little food is left, they'll have to face the consequences of their actions – with some believing they're being punished for their decisions.

Happy Valley star Siobhan Finneran will also appear in The Damned, joined by Game of Thrones' Rory McCann, Killing Eve's Turlough Convery (Killing Eve, Belfast) and Lewis Gribben from Somewhere Boy.

Francis Magee (KIN, The Tourist), Mícheál Óg Lane (The Guard, Calvary) and Andrean Sigurgeirsson (A Song Called Hate, When We Are Born) have also been announced as part of the cast.

"The Icelandic landscape is a part of the haunted soul of this film and shooting in the depths of winter in the West Fjords provided physical and creative challenges, and each of those challenges could not have been overcome without the support of our fantastic partners. We are so excited to get this film into the world."

"Thor is an exceptionally exciting filmmaker who has delivered on his promise to thrill and terrify audiences in this stunning debut feature," said Protagonist Pictures CCO George Hamilton.

"His vision for the film put chills up our spines from the start, and we can't wait for audiences to see how he and his fiercely talented cast brought this elevated and smart take on the genre to life."

Cole will soon be seen in miniseries A Small Light as Jan Gies, a member of the Dutch resistance who, along with his wife Miep, helped to shelter Anne Frank and her family during World War II.

He's also due to appear in Nightsleeper, a BBC thriller from The Control Room's Nick Leather which is set on an overnight sleeper train running between Glasgow and London.

The Damned doesn't have a release date yet.
