Peter Jackson planning Tintin sequel

The Hobbit director may even start shooting motion-capture scenes next year

'Hobbit' helmsman Peter Jackson has said that he's planning to start shooting a sequel to 'The Adventures of Tintin' next year.

It would then be set for a release sometime in 2015.

Though the film will be directed by Steven Spielberg, who also made the first film, it's thought that Jackson will shoot all the 'performance-capture' parts of the film.

It was previously planned that Jackson would film the performance-capture scenes last summer, but the extension of his 'Hobbit' project from two to three films meant the plans have now been shifted to next year, once he's completed his latest jaunt in Middle Earth.

Jackson revealed during an interview with Stephen Colbert that he's already got a finished cut of the second Hobbit film, 'The Desolation of Smaug, in the bag, though it's not due out until Christmas next year.

That would leave him the final installment 'There and Back Again' to have finished for it's release date in summer, 2014.

It's not yet known which book Jackson and Spielberg will base the sequel on, though Spielberg told Total Film earlier this year that it will be based on two books.

The first film based its plot on three books; 'The Crab with the Golden Claws', 'The Secret of the Unicorn', and 'Red Rackham's Treasure'.

It grossed $374 million (£231 million) worldwide.
