For those who have still not seen Avengers: Endgame, we regret to inform you that a certain billionaire playboy genius did not make it through to the final credits.

But perhaps all is not lost.

A petition has now been launched to bring Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark back to life, and it's gathering momentum.

The Bring Tony Stark Back to Life petition is up on Change.org, and at the time of writing, it had amassed a healthy 34,000 signatures.

Writes the petition's founder Meline Loiseau: “MCU's Tony deserves to come back fully alive. Tony Stark was always ready to risk his life, suffer, and sacrifice himself for anyone, without ever receiving anything in return. Since the beginning, since he was a kid.

“He can never be happy, and when he finally got what he always wanted, and deserved, his wife, his daughter, his family... he died. He didn't deserve this and it's not fair, after everything he's been through, and done for everyone, he deserves to live and see his daughter grow up.

“We love him so much. We love him 3000. Without him, now, we are totally lost. For many people, he was their reason to live and hold on in life.”

While the last point is arguably a tiny bit over the top, he was indeed pivotal to the MCU, though now things will most likely already be moving on without him.

That said, if enough people sign up, who knows?

Though it wasn't a mortality-based matter, nearly half a million people signed the online petition to have Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn reinstated after Disney fired him.

He was re-hired for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in March.
