Organisers hired ‘Family Guy’ creator Seth to keep the established awards show “entertaining and fresh”, and draw in the “youth” missing from their demographic. Within minutes of broadcast… they regretted that decision. The ‘Ted’ director was just too edgy for the pampered for the assembled Hollywood types, with jokes on racism, the crowd themselves, even the assassination of Abraham Lincoln drawing awkward groans and even boos. And then there’s the “We Saw Your Boobs” song… Yup, that actually happened.

It’s squeaky bum time for comedian turned talk show star Ellen DeGeneres as she prepares to host the 2014 Academy Awards - her second ever stint at presenting the show. Will this be the year she cements herself as a replacement for Ol' Safe Hands himself, Billy Crystal, or will it be car-crash awkwardness with musical numbers about mammary glands (We’re looking at you Seth MacFarlane).
