Piers Morgan has addressed his walk-off from the set of Good Morning Britain earlier today.

This morning (9 March), the broadcaster was seen abruptly leaving the set of the show after being condemned by his co-presenter Alex Beresford

Beresford condemned Morgan’s remarks about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, which were made following the couple’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The clip circulated widely on social media, with many viewers criticising Morgan for not staying and engaging in the discussion.

News organisation News Guido wrote on Twitter: “What a snowflake @piersmorgan turns out to be. If you dish it out, you’ve got to take it.”

The presenter quote-tweeted the post, adding: “Agreed. I was annoyed, went for a little cool-down and came back to finish the discussion.”

Prior to Morgan’s walk-off, which is being mocked by viewers, Beresford had been critical of the presenter’s comments about Markle and Prince Harry.

In the prime-time interview, Markle revealed that she previously had suicidal thoughts due to the abuse she had received after joining the royal family. On yesterday’s episode of GMB, Morgan said: “I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she said, Meghan Markle. I wouldn’t believe it if she read me a weather report.”

His remarks were widely criticised by his co-presenters and on social media, with broadcaster ITV also being called “hypocritical” for allowing him to “cast aspersions” while also running the mental health campaign Get Britain Talking.

Beresford also criticised Morgan’s recent comments. “I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle. You’ve made it so clear a number of times on this programme, and I understand that you had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off,” he said.

“Has she said anything about you after she cut you off? She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. And yet you continue to trash her.”

“OK, I’m done with this,” said Morgan before standing up and walking away from the set.

As Morgan was leaving, Beresford added: “Do you know what? That’s pathetic. This is absolutely diabolical behaviour. I’m sorry, but Piers spouts off on a regular basis and we all have to sit there and listen – 6.30 to 7 o’clock yesterday was incredibly hard to watch.”

Co-host Susanna Reid told viewers that GMB was heading to a break. Morgan had returned to the show by 7.00am this morning.

Harry and Meghan’s Oprah special can be streamed on ITV hub now.
