In case you didn't know, Emma Watson made history last night (May 7) after winning the first ever gender-neutral prize at the MTV Movie & TV Awards.

So naturally, resident shit-stirrer Piers Morgan has put his two pence in on today's Good Morning Britain, branding the award "utterly ridiculous" and saying he just "doesn't get it".

The host hit back: "Gender neutral awards – just what the world was craving.

"I can't think of a better recipient than Emma Watson, a great flagbearer to all things gender neutral."

Piers continued: "Am I wrong? Is it just me or am I a creaking old dinosaur that doesn't get it?

"Should we ban the word man from life itself? Should nothing anymore be male or female?

"Little babies just be little babies, no longer boys and girls? Should it all just be ended? Should we end gender as we know it? Is it the end of gender?"

He added: "Do we need to have men and women? Shall we call you woes? Woe is me.

"You become woes. We can't become men obviously, we become persons. And everything becomes gender neutral."

Susanna replied: "MTV, what have you started?!"

Piers concluded by telling anyone in favour of gender neutral awards to seek medical advice.

"If anyone thinks you should, I've got a good doctor you can see," he quipped.

Taking to Twitter, some ITV viewers agreed with Piers claiming that "it's a ridiculous pc world we live in" while others slammed the presenter, saying he should get off "his soapbox".

One fan wrote: "Mad Monday. Found myself agreeing with Piers Morgan rant against "gender-neutrality", while another said: "Totally agree with you Piers. Everyone should Man up. Or is it women up?"

Disagreeing with his blunt viewers, someone else sarcastically said: "Thrilled that Piers Morgan's fragile masculinity has reared its head already this morning."

Another angry viewer added: "Piers Morgan mocking gender first thing on a Monday morning has made me so angry!"

Held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Emma Watson picked up the genderless gong for Beauty and the Beast, saying: "The first acting award that doesn't separate nominees based on their sex says something about how we perceive the human experience.

"MTV's move to create a genderless award for acting will mean something different to everyone.

"But to me it indicates that acting is about the ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes and that doesn't need to be separated into two different categories."

She added: "Empathy and the ability to use your imagination should have no limits. This is very meaningful to me."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV.
