Piers Morgan is taking another break from Good Morning Britain

Good Morning Britain’s Piers Morgan is taking another break from the morning show, he revealed.

Piers, 52, was noticeably absent from yesterday’s programme, as well as today’s, and will take next week off too as the show temporarily moves home to a new studio.

The divisive co-host did find time to share his thoughts, according to the Mirror, on his mini hiatus and how it makes him feel when asked about it: ‘We got into the world’s worst lift someone said to me “Are you sad to be leaving the ITV Studios?”‘

‘And I said, “I’m about as sad as I am when I’m leaving the dental chair after having a root canal,”‘ he joked.

The studio move comes as their current home, London Studios, is being revamped. Co-host Susanna Reid, 47, previously made clear that he would be returning at some point – which will bring joy and sadness to his polarised audience – although an exact date has not been confirmed by ITV.

Piers has taken time away from GMB in the past to pursue other projects such as to film episodes of his ITV1 series Life Stories and, most recently, to do his US-based show Serial Killers.

During his half-term break just the other month, Jeremy Kyle took over his presenting role but didn’t quite please everyone as viewers were calling for Piers’ return after just one episode.

This time Tipping Point’s Ben Shephard, 43, will co-present alongside Susanna, with Piers expected back in time for the Easter holidays.

Piers’ absence will spell a less volatile and less controversial and outspoken few days, after the forme newspaper editor often speaks his mind. Just the other day he spoke up about how Ant McPartlin’s drink-drive arrest was unfair on Declan Donnelly and encouraged the latter to go it alone.

He’s also threatened to quit GMB for the early starts but. as he’s claimed, they managed to come to some sort of arrangement whereby he was able to roll up a few hours later.

His most recent controversy was when he offended people with a crass #MeToo joke live on air as he told Susanna he’d lt her ‘dangle your little arm around me’.

Catch Good Morning Britain each weekday, on ITV1, from 6am.
