‘Point Break’ Remake Trailer Teases Heist at 30,000 Feet (Video)

Edgar Ramirez and Luke Bracey channel their best Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves in the first trailer for “Point Break,” the remake of the classic Kathryn Bigelow 1991 actioner.

The action film directed by Ericson Core has Bracey playing Johnny Utah, originally portrayed by Reeves, and Ramirez as philosopher-antagonist Bodhi, memorably played by Swayze in the original.

The new film moves from the Southern California surf scene and goes international, with the first trailer teasing such extreme stunts as a skydiving bank heist, as well as action sequences involving snowboarding, base jumping and mountain climbing – all in the name of disrupting the international financial market.

The remake also stars Teresa Palmer.

Alcon co-founders and co-CEOs Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove produced the film along with John Baldecchi, Chris Taylor and Wimmer. RGM Media principal Devesh Chetty and investor John McMurrick, chairman of Marloss Entertainment, served as executive producers.

The film will be released domestically via Warner Bros through Alcon’s long-term distribution pact.
