Pokemon Go Movie Already In The Works?

Despite only having burst onto smartphones a day or so ago, there could already be a ‘Pokemon Go’ movie in the pipeline.

The emergence of the new GPS game app has boosted maker Nintendo’s stock price by a sturdy 10 percent, and it’s currently hitting the news for all manner of reasons, with players descending on locations from sex shops to the 9/11 memorial to play.

The appropriateness of such things aside, the game is quickly becoming one of the fastest growing cultural phenomenons of recent years, and now Hollywood has once more expressed its interest in the franchise.

According to Deadline, Legendary Pictures, which has circled the 'Pokemon’ world in the past with a view to making a proper movie, is now said to be close to a deal with Nintendo.

The industry mag has also dropped the name Max Landis into proceedings as a possible screenwriter for the project.

Landis, son of director John Landis, has previously penned 'Chronicle’ and 'American Ultra’ for the big screen.

Meanwhile, Legendary is the studio behind not only movies like 'The Dark Knight’ and 'Inception’, but Duncan Jones’ recent video game epic 'Warcraft’.

Whether features of the new 'Go’ incarnation of Pokemon would feature is not known, but the franchise has been big business ever since it emerged in the 90s, spawning video games and cartoons.
