The stars of Poldark, Jurassic Park, Endeavour and The Crown will be teaming up on a new all-star comedy that centres on celebrated playwright George Bernard Shaw.

Poldark's Aidan Turner, Jurassic Park's Sam Neill, Endeavour's Roger Allam and The Crown's Eileen Atkins will join Dustin Hoffman, Derek Jacobi and Brittany Snow in the cast for Mr. Shaw Goes to Hollywood.

The movie, set in 1933, will follow Shaw, played by Jacobi, as he visits Hollywood with his wife Charlotte (Atkins).

It will see them discuss whether Shaw's most successful play Pygmalion should be turned into a film as everyone in Hollywood competes for his attention.

Mr. Shaw Goes to Hollywood tells the story of what happened before Shaw's play became a worldwide phenomenon and answers the question of who will come out on top when the Irish-born writer breaks bread with the Hollywood elite.

Hoffman will play studio boss Louis B Mayer, co-founder of MGM, while Turner will portray Clark Gable and Neill will star as William Randolph Hearst. Filming is scheduled to start later this year in the UK.

BAFTA nominee Simon Callow will be directing the movie with Mark Saltzman writing the screenplay.

As reported in Deadline, Callow said: "Hollywood in 1933 was at the very height of its power, reaching untold millions of cinemagoers across the world, gobbling up the greatest writers, directors and actors, and as often as not spitting them out again."

In this film, "we see the brutal truth of what lies behind the elegant, witty surface; it is a spectacle both delicious and sobering," he added.

Turner appeared as Ross Poldark in Poldark from 2015 to 2019, while Allam is best known for starring in Endeavour, the prequel to the long-running Inspector Morse.
