A ‘dangerous’ convicted killer and rapist has been on the run for two months, police only disclosed today.

Ramon Tomlinson, 32, fled Sheffield Crown Court shortly after he was sentenced to nine years for rape in early December.

But police – who have warned the public not to approach him – only revealed on Tuesday that they have been searching for the violent criminal since he fled.

Tomlinson, who is only 5ft three inches tall, has previous convictions for manslaughter and grievous bodily harm.

Tomlinson fled Sheffield Crown Court in December and has not been seen since.

In 2004 Tomlinson was sentenced to four years in a young offenders institute after pleading guilty to manslaughter following an incident in West Yorkshire.

In 2010 he and a friend left a man with a fractured skull after an ‘unprovoked’ and ‘spur of the moment’ attack outside a night club in Sheffield.

He was locked up for six years for the offence.

He was sentenced for his most recent crime at Sheffield Crown Court on December 6 and managed to escape that day.

It’s not known how he was able to get away.

South Yorkshire Police continue to search for Tomlinson and have ordered anyone who sees him to keep their distance and call 999.

He’s around 5ft 3ins tall and has black hair, according to investigators.

A police spokesman said: “An investigation to locate Tomlinson’s whereabouts was immediately launched.

“His details were recorded on national and international systems and officers have been actively seeking out further information and intelligence to trace him.”
