The directors are fighting back…
Just a week or so after ‘Terminator Genysis’ helmsman Alan Taylor slated the movie’s marketing department for revealing the film’s massive twist, Colin Trevorrow, director of 'Jurassic World’ has also raised his concerns.
During an interview with IGN, he admitted that the trailers for the dino reboot showed 'far more of this movie than I would ever have wanted’.
He said that in particular the decision to show Chris Pratt with his 'raptor squad’, riding through the jungle flanked by velociraptors – previously the biggest threat to humans in previous movies – was 'bananas’.
“Your suspension of disbelief has to be earned,” he said. “We’ve been earning it [in the movie], by the time that happens, for an hour and a half.
“Every movie has its own logic, and if you’re introducing a new set of rules, to just show people snippets of something without them understanding the set of rules that define the movie, can be challenging for an audience.”
He went on: “This kind of marketing has historically been able to get a lot of people into theatres; I trust a lot of people will be calling their friends and saying: ‘It’s not like [the trailer] at all, it feels much more like Jurassic Park than we thought it would.’”
While clearly annoying for Trevorrow, it must only leave you imagining how Alan Taylor must have felt on having his big twist blown in the trailer for the new 'Terminator’ movie.

On the twist of Jason Clarke’s John Connor being part-cyborg being unveiled in one of the early teasers, he said: “I certainly directed those scenes with the intention that no one would know.
“I know there was kind of a challenging calculus going on in the heads of those who market this thing to decide that this was the right thing to do.
“I think they felt like they had to send a strong message to a very wary audience that there was something new, that this was going to new territory.
“They were concerned that people were misperceiving this as kind of a reboot, and none of us wanted to reboot two perfect movies by James Cameron.
“I think they felt they had to do something game-changing in how the film was being perceived.”
