With the ‘Avengers’ pay cheques still clearly rolling in, Robert Downey Jr has topped the annual Forbes list of highest-paid actors for the third year running.
He’s coined in an eye-watering $80 million (£51 million), despite only releasing one film this year – 'Avengers: Age of Ultron’ in which he reprised his role as Iron Man/Tony Stark.
But he did also film his role in 'Captain America: Civil War’ too (reportedly earning him $40 million) which is out next year, making him $5 million up on last year’s placing, which set his fortune at $75 million.
Speaking to the Guardian, Forbes’ Natalie Robehmed said: “Downey Jr has been able to cut unique, favourable deals that ensure he is well compensated for his Tony Stark troubles.
“Movies featuring his Iron Man character still perform astronomically at the box office.”
Downey Jr is streaks ahead of his nearest rival, Jackie Chan, who made $50 million in the same period, followed by Vin Diesel who, thanks to 'Fast & Furious 7’, took home $47 million.
In at number four is Bradley Cooper with $41.5 million, and despite being at the helm of a series of huge flops in recent years, Adam Sandler is at number five with $41 million.
The only British actor to feature on the list is Daniel Craig, with a fortune of $27 million.
Meanwhile, Bollywood stars featured heavily, with Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan tied at number seven ($33.5 million), and Akshay Kumar at nine with $32.5 million.
