‘Sherlock’ star Amanda Abbington has contacted police after receiving online death threats aimed at her and partner Martin Freeman.
The chilling posts from an anonymous blog included an image of a baseball bat wrapped in barb wired, and a picture of Freeman with the caption “Shall we start prepping for a possible funeral?”
The actress posted screenshots of the blog posts on Twitter with the caption “To the coward who’s since shut this blog down. We’ve already informed the police sweetie. They have all the info.”
She’s since deleted the Tweet, but it’s screengrabbed above courtesy of The Huffington Post.
Another post attacked the couple for their close association with their ‘Sherlock’ co-star Benedict Cumberbatch saying, “Both Martin Freeman and Amanda Abbington are starting to give Benedict and all his fans a bad name! They both seriously just need to shut up and f***ing die already!“
Freeman and Abbington play John Watson and his wife Mary Watson in the hit BBC crime drama.
An anonymous source told The Sun: “This is nothing new to them, but they are not prepared to put up with threats on their life.
"These messages were incredibly sinister and they are well aware of the obsessive nature of a certain number of Benedict fans. Hopefully whoever is behind this will be caught and prosecuted.”
