A new video from behind the scenes of ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them’ has been released by Pottermore, the online hub for all things ‘Harry Potter’ and JK Rowling’s Wizarding World.
Watch the full video here.
Released as part of a global ‘Harry Potter’ celebration, the featurette is an amazing treasure trove of new information and images from the set of the hugely anticipated Potter spin-off that hits cinemas this November.
And judging by the new footage, we’re not the only ones thrilled by the prospect of a return to the magical world.
“It’s incredibly exciting,” says director David Yates, “We’re working directly with JK [Rowling]. It’s her first screenplay.”
The author herself can be seen in the video being shown the amazing Macusa set by producer David Heyman and hanging out with the main cast.
Elsewhere in the clip, we’re treated to new looks at the main characters Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), Porpentina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston), Queenie Goldstein (Alison Sudol), and Jacob Kowalski (Don Fogler).
We’ve also been given our best look yet at Colin Farrell’s mysterious Percival Graves, whose role in the main story has yet to be revealed.
What we do know about the plot is outlined in the video.
“There’s one English gentleman named Newt Scamander,” explains Yates, “who turns up in New York with a suitcase full of rather extraordinary creatures.”
“Some of his beasts get out of the case,” adds Heyman.
“And this one catalyst sets in motion an insane amount of events that just cause chaos,” concludes Redmayne, “And at the core of it is this quartet.”
The video shows all of the main cast brandishing their magic wands, apart from Jacob, who is a muggle (or Nomaj as it’s known in America). As you can see, 1920s New York has been meticulously recreated on the huge Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, including the exterior of the real Woolworth Building that houses the American Ministry of Magic (MACUSA).
It also gives us a look at the beginnings of what looks like a romance that develops over the course of the film between Newt and Tina.
Note Newt’s scarf in the classic black and yellow of his Hogwarts house Hufflepuff.
‘Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them’ is coming to UK cinemas on 18 November, 2016. Watch the first teaser below.
