Harry Melling has opened up about the spider scene in new Netflix thriller The Devil All the Time.
Known to audiences for his snivelling role as Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter franchise, Melling portrays Roy Laferty here, alongside big names like Tom Holland, Bill Skarsgård, Robert Pattinson and Mia Wasikowska.
Sitting down with Digital Spy for a good old chinwag (next to co-star Pokey LaFarge), the actor described this arachnophobe's worst nightmare as a "secondary concern" on set.
"I cannot tell you – when you're doing a big scene like that, you've got a lot to say... dumping spiders on your face is such a secondary concern. It really is!" he stated.
"You really wanna get the scene right. You've seen lots of archive footage of what these scenes are like and they're electric. They're really really full of energy.
Dealing with any spider-related horror was, apparently, the second most important thing going on for Melling while filming.
"That was my main concern, making sure that room felt alive in that way and to be honest, dumping some spiders – that apparently do not bite, so I was told – was a real secondary thing."
What a brave man. And as far as spiders-on-faces scenes go in the movie world, you'd do well to find a better one than Marv's from Home Alone...
The Devil All the Time begins streaming on Netflix tomorrow (September 16).
