This week saw the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrating their ninth wedding anniversary. Along with posting a picture to commemorate the occasion on their official Instagram, we've also discovered Kate's favourite photo from the whole day and how husband-to-be Prince William helped his bride get ready.

Posting a picture of the happy couple on their wedding day back in 2011 to their @kensingtonroyal account, the Duke and Duchess are pictured holding hands as they leave Westminster Abbey, looking overjoyed in their official wedding outfits.

Despite it being a truly iconic picture of the royals, royal wedding photographer Samir Hussein revealed this week that it was in fact a candid picture of Kate turning to beam at the camera, and waiting crowds outside, as she headed into the church, led by her father, that was the bride's favourite photo from the event.

A touching moment indeed, but slightly trumped, somewhat, now that we've found out the adorable way Prince William helped his future-wife get ready on their wedding day.

'Surely a groom seeing his bride before the wedding is bad luck?' We hear you cry... But we're not talking about before the ceremony. No, eagle-eyed fans will have remembered that Kate did, in fact, have two outfits for her wedding day: the Alexander McQueen lace dress seen above for the main event, and a second, slinkier dress, also by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, for the reception later on.

Not only did Kate relax into a less regal outfit for the latter part of her big day, she also let her hair down, literally. Known for her big, bouncy blow-outs, the Duchess enlisted the help of royal hair stylist Richard Ward to help her recreate her signature look for the party later, along with new husband Prince William, apparently.

Disclosing to People, how the royal helped him restyle Kate's hair after the ceremony, in a touching show of husbandly love.

'I wanted to show Kate the back of her hair and I was struggling to walk with this 500-year-old mirror, and he just said, ‘Let me give you a hand,’' Ward told People.

'I said, 'No, no, honestly,' but he took one end and I’ve got the other and we’re shuffling along with this mirror—he’s great, he really is.'

If our current lockdown tasks are anything to go by, we're sure Kate's repaying the favour as we speak, by helping William keep his hair in check...
