We really hope Prince George received that police car he requested from a Finnish Father Christmas last year, as the Duke of Cambridge has revealed the four-year-old's fascination with officers of the law is still going strong.

During an event at Kensington Palace celebrating men and women who work at New Scotland Yard earlier this week, Police commissioner Jayne Richardson told William that there are more officers needed in the capital.

Richardson then joked (via Vanity Fair): "We are recruiting, actually, so if George and Charlotte are keen?"

William responded: "[George] is obsessed, actually, by the police... Cars, toys, everything."

George's utterly adorable Christmas list revealed his obsession with the police last year, after William presented it to a Santa Clause at a Christmas market in Helsinki during an official trip to Finland.

The letter began with "Dear Father Christmas, this year I have been naughty/nice", and George had made sure to circle nice - as if we had any doubt that he had been anything but.

He only requested the one gift, with William remarking (via the BBC): "He hasn't written down many requests, so I think one request is probably OK."

William also backed up his son's good behaviour, telling Santa that George had "been a nice boy".

And although it seems unlikely that George will end up in the police force due to being a Prince and all, a boy can dream.

Meanwhile, Prince George will become an older brother again as William and Kate Middleton welcome their third child, expected next month.
