Prince William and Kate Middleton's surprising friendship with a reality star

From Cosmopolitan

When it comes to the royal family's inner circle, there are some pretty well known names – most fans will be familiar with Meghan Markle's best friend, Jessica Mulroney, and some of the other famous faces who dropped into her baby shower (cough, Serena Williams, cough). But Prince William and Kate Middleton seem to keep their closest pals a little quieter.

Naturally, with all that in mind, we were extremely excited to stumble upon a sneaky tidbit of information that suggests they're pretty friendly with a former reality star. Yep, a none other than a Mr Spencer Matthews (who made a name for himself on Made In Chelsea).

The news was revealed by his ex co-star, Jamie Laing, who spoke to OK! magazine about his lack of invite to Spencer's parties with William and Kate, and actually, the connection between Spencer and the Cambridges makes a lot of sense: his brother, James, is married to Kate's sister Pippa Middleton.

"I'm never invited to those parties, that's for sure!" Jamie joked, while seemingly confirming that there are indeed parties (that we urgently need to know more about! Seriously imagine being a fly on the wall at one of those dinner parties?).

"It would be nice to see Kate and Wills," he continued. "[I think] people think me and Spencer sit and play Heads Up! with them, but you know what? Spencer's very coy about the whole thing."

Jamie also added that William, Kate, Pippa and James are also very private (something the Cambridges are known for – it's even why Kate opts to take her children's portraits herself). "They're all very private and as much as I wish I was hanging out with royalty all the time, sadly I'm not!" You and me both, Jamie.

Spencer and his wife, Vogue Williams, who welcomed a baby girl, Gigi, in July, are also especially close with Kate and Pippa's brother, James, who they named godfather to their eldest child, a little boy named Theodore. Speaking about the decision making process, Spencer told VIP magazine, "It’s more a nod to our close friends and a nod to their reliability and responsibility. A little gold star on a very good friend."

So, err, how do we get an invite to their next knees up then?
