Behold, the greatest miracle known to Netflix movie making: The Princess Switch. Starring Vanessa Hudgens and Vanessa Hudgens, the Christmas romcom released in 2018 quickly spawned a sequel, adding a third Vanessa Hudgens to the roster.

In The Princess Switch: Switched Again Duchess Margaret unexpectedly inherits the throne to Montenaro and hits a rough patch with Kevin. It’s up to her double Stacy to save the day before a new lookalike, party girl Fiona foils their plans.

The release date for The Princess Switch: Switched Again was announced and at the same time, Netflix confirmed a third film in the series (what pun they'll come up for its title with remains to be seen. Switchback?). Here's what we know about The Princess Switch 3 so far.

According to ET, the third Princess Switch movie was set to begin filming in Scotland towards the end of 2020, to debut on Netflix around Christmas, 2021. Whether or not filming is actually taking place given the restrictions and general state of the world remains to be seen.

If delays hit, the movie would likely be pushed back a full year as it's definitively a Christmas movie and to release it at any other time of year would just be weird. For an officially confirmed release date, keep your eyes on this space.

We don't know for sure, but we'll likely see Nick Sagar return as Kevin, Sam Palladio as Prince Edward, and Alexa Adeosun as Olivia. With Mark Fleischmann and Suanne Braun both returning for the second Princess Switch, as Frank De Luca and Mrs Donatelli respectively, they'll likely also come back for a third movie.

As for Hudgens playing another character, she's emphatic it won't be happening. "'No, no, that’s just too outrageous. We're already at max outrageous here with three characters, we’re just going to keep it at that," she told TheWrap.

She added: "And I would 100% lose my mind if I tried to add another me, even though it would probably be Scottish [and] I love that accent and it would be a great excuse to master the Scottish accent. But no, that’s not happening."

We mean it! Spoilers here: The plot of the first Princess Switch movie doesn't directly tie into the plot of the sequel, but that doesn't mean seeds haven't been sown for the third. All we have to go on is Stacy's vague prediction that her future holds a little 'prince or princess', implying a pregnancy story line may be in the works.

By the end of The Princess Switch: Switched Again Kevin and Margaret are happily engaged, Margaret is queen, and Fiona has been arrested for her fraud attempts. Whether the latter will make an appearance remains to be seen.

There could always be a Christmas wedding in the works, but your guess is as good as ours. Okay, spoilers are over!
