The Purge TV series has unveiled a first look as a major character from the film franchise crosses over.

The show's official Instagram account shared a pic of Ethan Hawke in character as James Sandin from the first movie and wrote: "Get ready to see a familiar face. @Ethanhawke is making a cameo in the Season 2 finale of #ThePurgeTV, next Tuesday at 9/8c on @usa_network."

And if you're wondering how James makes his return, Deadline reports that the security system salesman will appear in the cold open of episode '7:01 A.M'.

The flashback scene will cover the events that happened one week before the first national Purge Night, which took place in 2017.

A synopsis for the episode reads: "The finale picks up as Purge Night rages on and Esme, Ryan, Marcus and Ben fight for their lives and their loved ones."

The second season of the TV series featured a whole new cast in typical Purge fashion.

Speaking about the decision to change up the cast, franchise previously said: "We love all the [old] characters, but... you know, we'll have a lot of new characters.

"I think the beauty of [it] is that with each new Purge, we could have new faces that emerge. So unlike a lot of shows, which have to have people coming back, we're not bound to that."

The Purge airs on USA Network in the US and on Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
