Tarantino clashes with Krishnan Guru-Murthy

After a series of questions about film violence, director kicks off with Channel 4 News host

Channel 4 News host Krishnan Guru-Murthy and Quentin Tarantino tussled during an interview, after the director was quizzed over film violence.

Tarantino told Guru-Murthy 'I'm shutting your butt down' when he asked him to explain recent comments over whether there is a relationship with film violence on screen, and violence off screen.

“Don't ask me a question like that,” he said. “I'm not biting. I refuse your question.”

The director, in London for the premiere of his latest film, the slavery-themed 'Django Unchained', was clearly angered by the line of questions, and continued to clash with his interviewer.

“I'm not your slave, and you're not my master. You can't make me dance to your tune. I'm not a monkey,” he added.

Though Murthy tried to explain why he thought the line of questioning was relevant, Tarantino became further animated on the subject.

“I'm here to sell my movie,” he said. “This is a commercial for the movie, make no mistake. I don't want to talk about what you want to talk about. I don't want to talk about the implications of violence.

“The reason I don't want to talk about is I've said everything I want to say about it. If anyone cares what I have to say about it, they can Google me, and they can look for 20 years on what I have to say about it. I haven't changed my opinion one iota.”

When asked why he thinks there is no relationship between films and real-life violence, Tarantino spits back: “It's none of your damn business what I think about that. I have explained it. I'm just not giving it to you. I refuse to repeat myself over and over because you want me to for your show and your ratings.”

Last week, Tarantino clashed during an interview with NPR in the US, saying that he was annoyed with the associations between film violence and the recent school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary.

“I'm really annoyed. I think it's disrespectful. I think it's disrespectful to their memory... of the people who died to talk about movies,” he said.

“I think it's totally disrespectful to their memory. Obviously, the issue is gun control and mental health.”

Yahoo! Movies sat down with Quentin Tarantino to talk about 'Django Unchained' and his rather stellar career last month, and the Oscar-winning director revealed a surprising guilty pleasure: Kate Hudson rom-coms.
