A third instalment in the A Quiet Place franchise has been given a release date, and one sooner than we expected, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's A Quiet Place Part III.
Both Deadline and TheWrap have stated that Paramount has dated an untitled movie in the series for March 31, 2023. John Krasinski won't be writing and directing this one, hence why it's not a direct follow-up to the recently released Part II.
Instead, this will be a film set in the universe based on an idea by Krasinski but written and directed by Jeff Nichols. The former The Office US actor will be serving as one of the executive producers, with Andrew Form, Brad Fuller and explosion auteur Michael Bay also producing.
Krasinski himself has hinted that the second film contains Easter eggs that will be explored in Part III, or possibly even in this spin-off (are we calling it that at this point?).
"I didn't think of it in the first movie. There were a lot of things I didn’t realize would be great for the sequel," he said.
"I also remember thinking to myself when we were shooting, 'Oh man, I wonder what's going on at the other side of those fires. I wonder who's living on the other side of those fires, and how are they living?'"
A Quiet Place Part II is out in UK cinemas now.
