Rachel McAdams Confirms Doctor Strange Rumours

‘Doctor Strange’ may be close to landing another cast member… as Rachel McAdams confirms rumours of her involvement.

During an interview with The Los Angeles Times, the 36-year-old actress admitted that she’s currently being considered for the female lead in ‘Doctor Strange’.

“It’s still super-early days,” she said, “and I don’t know where that’s gonna go, if it’s gonna go anywhere at all.”

“I don’t have much to say about it right now,” she told Den of Geek. “There’s not really anything to comment on. But, if there is, I’ll let you know.”

Of course, McAdams found herself linked to ‘Doctor Strange’ earlier this month, when rumours appeared to suggest that she had already been offered the female lead opposite Benedict Cumberbatch.

But will this be a character from the comic books?

I can’t help thinking that the sorceress Clea is the most likely candidate – a staple love interest from the Marvel comic books.

Related to the demonic tyrant Dormammu, she’s a powerful humanoid being who has ruled over the Dark Dimension. And if the demonic realms make an appearance on the big screen, it’s a good bet that she will be involved in some way.

Other candidates could include Morgana Blessing – an author and potential love interest who compiled a detailed history about Doctor Stephen Strange when the good doctor was missing presumed dead.

But in the comic books, Morgana became involved with Strange’s vampire brother, Baron Blood… and I can’t help thinking the more obscure storyline might be a bit too much for the casual Marvel viewer.

At the moment, details surrounding the role remain a mystery… but it looks as though Rachel McAdams could well land the role.

Who she will end up portraying on the big screen remains to be seen.

‘Doctor Strange’ heads to cinemas on 28 October 2016.
