Rakhee Thakrar leaves Sex Education
Rakhee Thakrar has left 'Sex Education'.
The 38-year-old actress has starred as Emily Sands in three series of the Netflix show but has confirmed she won't be returning as the teacher, and though she didn't explain why she's not going to be involved with the show anymore, she insisted "nothing bad" has happened.
She told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "I'm not part of the new series. I can't really talk about why.
"But I'm so proud of the show and grateful to have been part of something so important.
"There is nothing bad about 'Sex Education'.
The former 'EastEnders' actress already has other work in the pipeline, including a part in a film.
She said: "I've got a couple of things coming up."
Rakhee's announcement comes weeks after Tanya Reynolds revealed she also won't be back as Lily Iglehart for season four.
She said: “I’m not [returning], actually, which is sad, very sad. It’s just the natural progression of these shows – when you have such big ensemble casts and so many characters, I think you have to let a few older characters go to make way for newer ones, which is absolutely the right thing, the way it should happen.”
Patricia Allison has also confirmed she's not going to feature as Lily's love interest, Ola Nyman.
She said: “I won’t be joining the team for season 4. I absolutely have loved my time on 'Sex Education', and I’m so sorry to have to break that to you guys.
“I’ve been doing it for three years and I’ve loved it.”
Simone Ashley has also quit the show because her work on 'Bridgerton' has left her too busy to film scenes as the popular Olivia Hanan.
Asked about her future on 'Sex Education', she said in April: "I get asked that all the time. No, I'm a 'Bridgerton' girl now."
