A 34-year-old Canadian rapper fell to his death in British Columbia, Canada after performing a stunt that involved walking on the wing of a plane while inflight.

Jon James McMurray died on Saturday while filming a music video project. His representatives said he trained ‘intensively’ for the stunt and he didn’t have time to pull his chute.

“Jon got further out onto the wing of the plane, it caused the small Cessna to go into a downward spiral that the pilot couldn’t correct.

“Jon held onto the wing until it was too late, and by the time he let go, he didn’t have time to pull his chute. He impacted and died instantly,” the statement read.

McMurray was born in Calgary, Canada and grew up skiing in the Rocky Mountains, his team said. However after a slew of injuries, including breaking his back, he switched to a career in music around a decade ago.

“His passion for making music videos and performing stunts were combined, and Jon pushed music in a new direction that was uncharted territory,” his team said.

Professional skier Rory Wayne Bushfield said McMurray was his oldest and dearest friend in an emotional Instagram post tributing the late musician.

“The sun is not as bright today as it was yesterday when it was shinning [sic] on my homies last moments. Jon james Mcmurray, my very best, dearest and oldest friend passed yesterday evening in a skydive accident.”

“He was living his ultimate dream, free and full. May he Rest In Peace. I’m gonna miss him so much,” Bushfield wrote.

The RCMP, B.C. Coroners Service and Transportation Safety Board are investigating his death.
