Raptors reveal bold new City Edition jerseys with revamped throwback

The Toronto Raptors announced the release of a new jersey for the 2021-22 season on Monday, adding a fresh twist to a familiar look.

The sleek new uniforms come as part of the NBA’s “City Edition” release, an annual tradition that sees a fun and flashy design added to every team’s jersey rotation.

The jersey includes the vintage Raptor logo, famously used as the centrepiece of the franchise’s very first uniforms, with the player’s number hanging to the top right and the team name flashing above in a primitive-style font. The black and gold colourway, popularized by Toronto-born rapper Drake and his OVO brand, returns in celebration of the team’s association with the superstar artist.

Fans of both the Raptors and the NBA in general took to Twitter to share their impressions of the club’s fresh new digs.

There’s no word yet on when the team plans to debut the new jerseys.

The Raptors take on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Monday night, looking to extend their winning streak to four games.
