The Rare Total Solar Eclipse Means Free Food at Chili’s, Cracker Barrel and More
The total solar eclipse occurs on Monday, April 8
Monday’s celestial event might be eclipsed by all of the fast food deals.
On April 8, the Sun, the Moon and Earth will line up and create a total solar eclipse — an event so rare that won’t happen again for another 20 years. Totality only occurs in certain parts of the country, but several chain restaurants are serving up food discounts nationwide.
Here are the spots offering deals in honor of the out-of-this-world phenomenon:
Burger King: The burger joint is offering buy-one-get-one-free Whoppers on Monday. The deal is for Royal Perk members who text ECLIPSE to 251251. Fans can then redeem the BOGO offer by ordering on the app and online at BK.com through April 15.
Chili’s: The total solar eclipse may only last for a few minutes, but Chili’s has two days worth of deals. Guests can snag a free appetizer on April 7 and April 8 when they purchase an adult entrée. Just use the code APPCLIPSE when ordering to-go or in-store to redeem the freebie.

Cracker Barrel: For people waking up on April 8 with some pep in their step, the Southern-inspired restaurant has a breakfast deal. Customers can earn a free side of pancakes when they order an entrée. The “Eclipse Pancakes” are available with the purchase of an adult or kids meal just by mentioning the promotion.
Pizza Hut: Dean Martin would have loved this deal. On Monday, April 8, diners can get a large pizza for $12. You can either create-your-own pie with up to 10 toppings or pick from any of the pies on the menu. The discount is valid for carryout, dine-in and delivery orders.
Wendy's: The eclipse may come and go but customers can score a sweet deal at Wendy's all of next week. Fans can snag a free chocolate or Orange Dreamsicle Frosty when they make a purchase on the restaurant's app. Plus, app-users can also grab a $1 Dave's Single or $2 Dave's Double through April 10.
