Yahoo Movies RECAP: 'DWTS' Features a Party & Some Tears
Party anthems punctuate Dancing with the Stars.
It was party-time on Dancing with the Stars Monday night as contenders took on party song anthems.
And that meant it was all the more fitting that Redfoo from LMFAO (the man behind Party Rock Anthem) sat in as a guest judge. "I'm looking for something that's going to rock my socks off," he said at the start of the episode.
NeNe Leakes and Tony Dovoloni learned early on they were safe, which gave them all the more reason to heat things up with Nelly's Hot in Herre. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba enjoyed the "grinding," while Redfoo noted, "You looked like an entrepreneur out there because you owned that." They scored 33 points.
Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy took on a tango to the tune of Calvin Harris' Feel So Close, a big hit with the judges. Bruno Tonioli described it as "a face-off between two killers," while Inaba said "there is something so magical happening between you two." The pair earned a perfect score of 40 points.
Amy Purdy and Derek Hough set their routine to Shout by the Isley Brothers. Redfoo said, "That blew my mind," while Goodman called it "fantastic." They snagged 38 points.
Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas brought cha cha to the party with to Icona Pop's I Love It. Tonioli said, "You're sexy -- you just don't know it," and Redfoo noted, "You are so cute." They received 32 points.
Danica McKellar and pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy tackled a cha cha to Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance with Somebody. "It looked like you was really in love with him," Redfoo said, while Tonioli called the former "Wonder Years" stars a "purring little kitten." Oh Winnie Cooper. They received 36 points.
The party continued with James Maslow and Peta Murgratroyd (last week's perfect-scoring pair) who did a quickstep to You're the One That I Want from the musical classic Grease. Inaba was impressed with Maslow, calling him a "leading man," but Goodman criticized the couple's technique. Still, they managed to eek out 35 points.
Charlie White and Sharna Brugess brought the tango to the '90s hit Everybody Dance Now by C&C Music Factory -- complete with audience glow sticks. Inaba called it "hot, sexy and funky." Tonioli thought the routine was "spot on." The pair walked away with 36 points.
Drew Carey seemingly foreshadowed his fate; during rehearsals he told pro-partner Cheryl Burke, "I feel like this is my last week." They danced the tango to Rick James' Super Freak. and although Carey received praise for his charisma (he played a pimp), they hit some technical bumps, earning them 32 points.Despite his enthusiasm (the "Price is Right" host is a longtime fan of "DWTS"), Carey was sent packing on Monday night.
"I got farther than I thought I would," he said. "I just want to say thanks to Dancing With the Stars. Thanks for letting me borrow your dance floor and fulfill this fantasy." In a taped segment, Carey even got a bit teary, saying, "I made a lot of really good friends here. Everybody's so nice." Carey will sure be missed by many viewers, but the show must go on.
