Big Little Lies actress Reese Witherspoon is collaborating with Netflix on a new sci-fi movie titled Pyros.
According to Deadline, a studio tug-of-war ensued when "up to six" voiced their interest in adapting Thomas Pierce's short story, which was published in The New Yorker magazine last year under the title Tardy Man.
Is this a sign of the times that a streaming service won out?
Pyros is the second major deal Pierce has bagged from one of his magazine shorts, with Kinberg and Fox Searchlight also developing 2017's Chairman Spaceman for the big screen.
Pierce's original Tardy Man focused on a number of augmented individuals who are fitted with indestructible fire suits fused to their spinal column. The action takes place in their day-to-day jobs as recovery workers sent into burning buildings to retrieve the possessions of wealthy people.
Although it's strictly prohibited for these firefighters to go off mission and help out endangered individuals, the story's protagonist decides to play against the rules and hey presto... we have a narrative to explore.
Whether or not Witherspoon is attached to portray this central hero is yet to be seen, but for fans eager to see her stretching those acting muscles, head over to the first-look trailer for her new series The Morning Show.
