Renfield's Nicolas Cage teases unexpected gory moment in new movie

Renfield star Nicolas Cage has teased an unexpected gory moment in the upcoming movie.

Playing Dracula in this reimagining of Bram Stoker's gothic novel, Nicolas Cage stars opposite The Menu's Nicholas Hoult, who plays the titular role of Renfield, the Count's employee.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Cage described one humorous scene from the film as both "hilarious" and "horrible".

"Nic Hoult punches somebody's head off in the movie. I don't think I've ever seen that in a movie before, that's new," said Cage.

"I like the whole scene with Dracula going on a rampage in the support group. Obviously it's all wrong and hilarious and horrible all at the same time," he added.

As if punching a person's head off wasn't enough, Hoult teased yet another gory moment saying that his character rips someone's arms off and then uses them as a weapon.

"I liked when I ripped the arms off one of the bad guys and then used them as [nunchucks] against them. You can use ripped-off arms for many purposes as it turns out," he quipped.

According to Cage, the actor had a lot of fun performing stunts on set with fellow star Awkwafina (whose real name is Nora Lum), who plays a traffic cop named Rebecca Quincy in the movie.

"I just remember Nora, Awkwafina, we're both dangling on the wire and I can't remember specifically what she would say," Cage explained.

"But she was always making a joke about something with that marvellous voice that she has. I would just be cracking up. Nora and I had a lot of laughs on those wires."

"I like being on the wires because I feel like I can do things that I'm not capable of doing," added Hoult of the stunts.

Renfield is released in cinemas on April 14.
