Report: 77-year-old woman seeks civil damages for Kellen Winslow Jr.'s sexual misconduct

A 77-year-old woman filed a civil suit against Kellen Winslow Jr. related to his conviction in criminal court of exposing himself to her in a Southern California gym.

San Diego County Judge Blaine Bowman sentenced Winslow to 14 years in prison on March 3 after the former NFL tight end pleaded guilty to multiple counts of sexual assault and misconduct against different women including forcible rape, rape of an unconscious person, assault with intent to commit rape, indecent exposure and lewd conduct in public.

The 77-year-old woman referred to as "Jane Doe 5" told authorities that Winslow touched himself in front of her in a gym in the San Diego suburb Carlsbad. The incident led to the lewd conduct charge and conviction.

According to TMZ's account of the civil suit, the woman accused Winslow of two separate counts of misconduct. Per the report, Winslow, while masturbating, exposed himself to her, pointed "at his erect penis" and said, “do you see this, do you like it?"

The woman said that she then found her husband and immediately left the gym. She accused Winslow of approaching her in a hot tub at the gym two weeks later and rubbing her arm and leg without her consent, per the report.

The woman is seeking unspecified damages after she "suffered and continues to suffer great pain of mind and body, shock, [and] emotional distress," according to the report.

Judge: Winslow targeted 'vulnerable victims'

Bowman sentenced Winslow to the maximum allowed under his plea deal, calling him a "sexual predator."

“I think that they’re brazen crimes and he selected the most vulnerable victims he could possibly find in order to carry out his crimes and hopefully get away with it in his mind,” Bowman said at the hearing.

Winslow, 37, played nine seasons in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New England Patriots and New York Jets. The Browns selected Winslow as a first-round draft pick out of Miami in 2004.

Winslow made the Pro Bowl once and accrued more than $43 million in career earnings before retiring in 2013. He is the son of Hall of Fame tight end Kellen Winslow.
