Richard Gere channels Billy Connolly for new movie role

Pretty Woman star unrecognisable in first eccentric on-set pictures.

Richard Gere has been snapped on the set of his new movie looking more like Billy Connolly than an officer or indeed a gentleman.

Sporting a wild white wig, red silky scarf, walking stick, slippers and sunglasses, the former 80s heartthrob strutted along a Philadelphia street with all the flamboyance of the scottish comedian.

He was even caught hanging out of a moving car, screaming and waving his cane.

The ‘Pretty Woman’ star is filming new indie drama ‘Franny’, alongside ‘Twilight’ star Dakota Fanning and ‘Divergent’s’ Theo James.

The now 64-year-old star plays an eccentric philanthropist who finds a sense of purpose when he meets a pregnant young couple, soon involving himself in their lives. The film is yet to receive a release date.

It’s Gere’s first role since excellent thriller ‘Arbitrage’ earlier this year – and by the looks of things, he’s taking to his eccentric side quite well.

We’re convinced Richard must have been watching a bit of Billy to prepare for the part. Just look at them side-by-side.

If that biopic ever gets made, we know who to call.
