River Phoenix’s final film to be released after 18 years
Late actor River Phoenix's final film ‘Dark Blood’ will finally be released in cinemas after 18 years, according to director George Sluizer.
The 1993 film was never completed due to River Phoenix's untimely death during shooting. Filming was abandoned and the movie was never released.
Fearing it would be destroyed, director Sluizer hid the original ‘Dark Blood’ footage, but he has recently begun re-editing the project.

The Dutch filmmaker announced that he will look to the late actor’s brother, Joaquin Phoenix to provide a voiceover for River’s character and is planning to release the picture sometime in 2012.
While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Sluizer explained that “the voices of both brothers are very much alike.”
The film follows a lonely widower (Phoenix) living in the desert on a nuclear testing site as he waits for the end of the world. When a Hollywood jet-set couple (played by Judy Davis and Jonathan Pryce) arrives to find shelter, he begins a troubled relationship with the wife.
The title may be changed due to rights issues.
