Riverdale star Charles Melton has replaced Colin Farrell in the upcoming movie Love Child.

According to Deadline, Melton and WandaVision star Elizabeth Olsen have been cast in Todd Solondz's new darkly comic film. The pair replace Rachel Weisz and Colin Farrell, who were previously attached to the movie a few years ago.

The film follows the story of Misty, who is trapped in a "loveless marriage to a brutish husband", with her 11-year-old son Junior the only comfort in the situation.

Things take a drastic turn when Easy, a "handsome vagabond stranger", appears. After meeting Easy, Junior soon comes up with a plan to get rid of his father so his mother can marry Easy instead and have a chance at happiness.

However, the plan backfires for Junior, so he devises another plot to get rid of his father — which leads to dangerous and "unexpected" consequences for everyone involved.

Further details regarding the cast and characters are yet to be announced. However, it's likely Olsen will be playing the role of Misty while Melton plays Easy.

Speaking about the project in a statement, Solondz said: "I am beyond excited to work with Elizabeth Olsen and Charles Melton on what will be a super fun and playful celebration of Hollywood movies."

Olsen herself added: "I am a long-time fan of Todd's work and to collaborate with him on this film is a true dream."
